LaserStick
The LaserStick is a walking aid designed to reduce Parkinson’s freezing by projecting a green laser line as a visual cue, guiding users to step forward safely. Combined with metronome-based audio cues, this clinically proven technique improves freezing of gait, a leading cause of falls in Parkinson’s patients, promoting safer, more independent mobility
Parkinson's disease (PD)
Parkinson's disease (PD), the second most common neurodegenerative disease, affects 7–10 million people globally, with cases rising sharply over the last three decades. Freezing of gait (FoG), a common symptom impacting over 50% of PD patients, disrupts daily life and increases the risk of falls, injuries, and loss of independence.
Independence
The LaserStick is a lightweight carbon fibre walking aid designed to combat FoG using clinically proven visual and audio cueing techniques. It promotes safer, more independent mobility by reducing walking hesitation and preventing falls at a reasonable price.
LaserStick Handle
Built-in Torchlight:
Illuminates passageways with adjustable viewing angles, enhancing visibility for users, especially when moving from bed to restroom at night.
Laser Line (Visual Cue):
A green laser line projects onto the floor, guiding users to step forward confidently. Its angle is adjustable for optimal positioning, and an integrated LED torchlight enhances safety in low-light conditions
Metronome Beat (Audio Cue):
A rhythmic metronome beat helps users maintain a steady walking pace. Adjustable speeds allow customization to suit individual walking rhythms.
Auto-Fall Alarm:
The alarm can be triggered when it falls and attracts attention in an emergency.
When experiencing a fall, the user could suffer from a shock stage and have difficulty projecting their voice. This alarm will help them project their voice better and get help from a passer-by.
Built-in Lithium-Ion Battery:
This battery is easy to charge with USB cables, requiring only 2 hours for approximately 10 hours of light operation.
Pricing is to be confirmed and is subject to changes.
